Brainworks Brainworks has established itself as a premier institution dedicated to the art and craft of wedding and event floristry. Since our founding in 2006 by master florist Caroline Bennett, we have cultivated a reputation for excellence in floral education that combines technical precision with creative innovation. What began as a small studio in downtown Portland with just three students has blossomed into a comprehensive training center serving hundreds of aspiring florists annually across our three campus locations. Our programs are designed to prepare students for diverse career paths within the flourishing wedding and event floristry industry. Graduates of Brainworks courses regularly secure positions as lead floral designers for luxury event companies, establish their own successful floral boutiques, work alongside renowned wedding planners, or even launch careers in floral styling for magazines and social media content creation. The wedding industry alone represents a $72 billion market in the United States, with floral design remaining one of the most essential and creative elements of celebration planning. Our specialized training in sustainable practices has also opened new doors for our alumni in eco-conscious event companies and farm-to-table floral enterprises. The learning atmosphere at Brainworks strikes a delicate balance between structured technique and unbridled creativity. Our studios feature natural light, custom-built design stations, and temperature-controlled flower storage facilities that mirror professional working environments. Classes typically include no more than twelve students, ensuring personalized attention from our instructors, all of whom have at least ten years of industry experience. The collaborative atmosphere encourages peer learning, with students often forming professional networks that last throughout their careers. From intense three-day workshops to comprehensive six-month certification programs, the Brainworks experience immerses students in hands-on design while building the business acumen needed for success in this competitive field. Throughout our history, Brainworks has evolved alongside changing trends in the wedding and event industry. After our initial success with basic floral design courses, we expanded in 2010 to include specialized training in wedding-specific arrangements, from bridal bouquets to elaborate ceremony installations. By 2015, we had pioneered courses in sustainable floristry, teaching students to create breathtaking designs using locally-sourced, seasonal blooms and foam-free techniques. Our curriculum further expanded in 2018 to embrace the growing demand for immersive floral experiences, including living walls, suspended installations, and interactive floral elements that have become signatures of luxury events. Today, Brainworks stands at the intersection of tradition and innovation, honoring classical design principles while embracing the boundary-pushing creative approaches that define modern celebration aesthetics.
